The Marathon Search & Rescue (SAR) Dive watch is built to ISO 6425 standards and manufactured in accordance with US Government MIL-SPEC specifications. Designed for use by Search and Rescue divers and issued to the United States Marine Corps, the Marathon Search & Rescue Dive Watch is a watch built to withstand the most extreme conditions.
The GSAR or "Government Search and Rescue" dive watch is officially issued to many military personnel in the United States and numerous NATO forces around the globe. The Nato Stock Number is 6645-21-558-0133.
The Arctic Red Maple GSAR features a distinctive white dial with black markings, a bright red seconds hand and a unique Red Maple Leaf dial appliqué, paying homage to Canada's rich military heritage. A white dial watch is more easily read in very bright environments and conditions, such as in the Arctic during the summer months.
It is water resistant down to 30 ATM - 300 meters (1000 feet) underwater. Built from 316L surgical grade stainless steel, the watch is a high quality, purpose built watch that will reliably accompany you wherever you take it. The rugged case, with solid flared crown guards, has a satin-brushed finish.
The white dial shows both 12-hour and military style 24-hour time with a date window at the 4:30 position. The dial is protected with a scratch resistant flat sapphire glass crystal with an anti reflective coating to ensure that the dial can be easily read even under direct sunlight or deep underwater.
The extra thick 120-click uni-directional bezel features large grooves which enable it to be rotated under all conditions - even when wearing gloves underwater. Whilst the black anodized bezel insert is engraved with white 60-minute markings for clear visibility and has a MaraGlo luminous triangle pip at the 12 o’clock position. The deeply knurled screw-down crown is also adjustable with wet hands or when wearing gloves.
The Marathon GSAR Search and Rescue Dive Watch is handmade in La Chaux de Fonds Switzerland to guarantee the highest level of quality and accuracy in manufacturing. The watch is powered by a 26 jewel Swiss made Marathon M2 automatic movement made by Sellita, guaranteeing a very reliable and accurate timekeeping experience.
The GSAR uses self contained Tritium gas tubes to ensure constant visibility in low light situations. A gas tube is placed on each hour marker and each syringe-style hand. MaraGlo luminescence is used for the 12 hour bezel marker. Tritium tubes are self illuminating gas tubes which contain an isotope of hydrogen, meaning they will not dull down in brightness like normal photo-luminescent paint which requires an external light source to create a glow.
The watch comes with a high quality 3-Piece FKM Rubber Strap Kit, also manufactured in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. Alternatively, a durable 316L Stainless Steel Bracelet can be selected. The bracelet features 14 solid links and a double-screw link system for added security during extreme activities. This military-grade bracelet is the same one supplied for authentic government operations, ensuring reliability and toughness.
The Marathon Arctic Red Maple GSAR Search & Rescue Dive Watch combines Military toughness with Swiss craftsmanship in a watch that will get the job done, and look good doing it.
